The Experience

Our original tour aptly named "Off the Beaten Path” focused on the once up-and-coming Railyard Arts District.  This neighborhood was where “tomorrow's Santa Fe” is now emerging, and exploding into the hippest, trendiest neighborhood in town. Not to mention the home to the infamous Santa Fe Farmers’ Market, honored many times over as one of the top 10 destination Farmers’ Markets in the country.

You’ll get to meet many of the chefs, owners, distillers, farmers and craftsmen who have been and are still are shaping that future.

As with all of our tours, what brings this tour to life is the stories behind the venues, new and old, we will visit. You'll learn about how the railroad redefined the American Southwest, and how a defunct rail yard became the home to a booming center of arts and culture. We will also have a chance to explore some of the hidden corners of Santa Fe, learning about how the city has evolved over the last century and where it is heading into the next one.

NOTE: all of our tours are designed with adventurous eaters in mind. All tastings have been curated and pre-selected. We are able to offer vegetarian and gluten free alternatives at all tour stops

What People Are Saying About This Tour

Even though we have been coming to Santa Fe since the 1980s, our guide Joe still provided some insights and information on the history of the area and buildings that were new to us. The food and drink at each stop were delicious and the people could not have been friendlier or more welcoming. We have been on a number of food tours in other cities and this was up there with the best. I can’t wait to come back and do another tour with Wander New Mexico.
— William A. (Houston, TX)
You probably won’t need dinner thanks to the generous quantities of delicious food served up by some proud chefs. A great sampling of New Mexico cuisine including an off-the-charts charcuterie paired with wine at the 4th stop, one of Santa Fe’s best restaurants, where we received a tour of the kitchen from the chef/owner.
— Cynthia B. (Virginia)
